North By Northwest, the movie for which the phrase 'they don't make 'em like they used to' was practically invented, is getting a richly deserved cinematic re-release. Hitchcock's classic thriller contains one (some believe two) of the many playful cameos the director made in his films. You can never get too much Hitch into your life and there was nearly always a bit of the man himself in each of his movies. Alfred Hitchcock's Movie Cameos The Lodger (1926)
Hitch's first, grainy appearance was as a journalist in his debut feature, an Expressionist-tinged thriller set in a fog-bound London. Hunched over a desk with his back turned to the camera, it's a demure start to his cameoing career. There's a brief second cameo later in the film as a bystander in a flat cap. The cameo appearances from the one and only hitchcock are the best! Its fun trying to spot him out in all his films... since then nearly every other director has copied him.... m. night shyamalan, martin scorsese, bryan singer etc. Read More
