Wimbledon (2004) The Players: 119th in the world/wild card Brit Peter Colt (Paul Bettany) and brash American/romantic rival Jake Hammond (Austin Nichols) who has already beaten Hewitt and Federer (yeah right). Key Spectators: Colt's family (Bernard Hill, Eleanor Bron, James McAvoy), his agent Ron Roth (Jon Favreau) and, most importantly, love of his life. US tennis star Lizzie Bradbury (Kirsten Dunst). Oh I Say! Hammond starts aggressively, hitting a ball boy the process with a 144 mph serve (yeah right), taking the first two sets. Red stops play and saves Colt. During the delay, Lizzie gives him a pep talk, offering tips to read the Hammond serve and inspirational advice ("Go out there and decide who you are!"). With renwed vigour he wins a third set tie-break, then goes into a Guitar and Slow motion montage that takes him to within one game of victory. "It's primo choke time," says McEnroe on commentary, referring to Colt's rep as a bottler. After an ace, a bad line decision and a neat pick-up volley, Colt wins the title by diving in slow motion to make an unmakeable shot. To celebrate, he does a Pat Cash, climbing through the crowd to his family and Lizzie. Tips for any younger players watching: If you find yourself getting beaten, try and get yourself into a montage. It speeds things up for the better.

No list of movie tennis matches could possibly be complete without Terry-Thomas versus Ian Carmichael in the classic British comedy School for Scoundrels: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkfT7p6kBE0
