Annie Hall (1977) The Players: Alvy Singer (Woody Allen), Annie Hall (Diane Keaton), Rob (Tony Gordon) and Janet (Janet Margolis). Key Spectators: New York sporteratti. Oh I Say! After debating the merits of moving to LA to play tennis outdoors in the sun ("Sun is bad for yuh. Everything our parents said was good is bad. Sun, milk, red meat, college ..."), comedian Alvy Singer and pal Rob hook up with Rob's wife and her pal Annie Hall for a spot of mixed doubles. The play starts well, each player until Annie, dressed in funky pink, wildly swings for the ball knocking it out of the court. Perhaps more important is the post match chat between Annie and Alvy, ("You play well" "Oh, well lah-de-da") that sparks the non tennis defintion of "love". Tips for any younger players watching: Don't fall for your opponent. And don't play in nerdy glasses - Nike will never sponsor them.
