14 Great Movie Star Impressions Nicolas Cage The imitator:Rob Magnotti The imitated:Nicolas Cage
As Les Dennis and the entire cast of ITV's Copycats proved so conclusively, most impressionists couldn't take off their shirts convincingly, let alone turn into famous people. The staple of a poor impressionist, apart from the Achilles heel of having to announce who they're doing because you wouldn't have a clue otherwise, is when they desperately crowbar a well-known catchphrase into a routine in an attempt to trigger a gag reflex. Magnotti, featured here on the laudable Impressionists' Week on Letterman, veers dangerously close to that with his "face off" shtick. Otherwise, though, his nervy bobbing, and perfect encapsulation of Cage's creepy-cool, sleepy/wired mannerisms and drawl get him a pass.

However, the Walken one had me in stitches and my collegues had to come over and see what the hell was going on. The rest weren't that interesting, however good they were. Read More
