You may remember a while back that we brought you a look at the Statue of Liberty onscreen, and how she's been treated by generations of filmmakers. Well, after seeing the Golden Gate Bridge attacked by monsters, aliens and a shark in the last little while, we figured it was time to look at this West Coast monument as well, which has starred in some of the most memorable scenes ever filmed...

When the dastardly Lex Luthor diverts a nuclear rocket into the San Andreas fault, it sets off an earthquake that rocks California. Superman, as usual, has to clear things up, keeping the State attached to the rest of the continent, saving a speeding train and memorably rescuing a school bus about to plunge from the Golden Gate Bridge. One question: do they stay saved when he spins the Earth round backwards?
