Skyfall

DIRECTOR Sam Mendes
STARS Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem, Ralph Fiennes

Even Quantum Of Solace's most diehard defenders – there have to be some out there, surely? – have to admit that that Daniel Craig's second outing as 007 was a disappointment. After the I-can't-believe-it's-this-good Casino Royale proved that Craig could fill out the tux of tuxes as well as anyone, along came Question Of Sport (as fans of Kermode and Mayo call it) to prove he could stuff it up with the best of them too. So this felt like Bond's last roll of the dice, a movie that ignored almost all the plot from the last two films and set its hero on a thrilling, witty and immensely watchable adventure. Along the way, it snuck in all the nods required by its 50th anniversary arrival, all while edging towards the all-important $1 billion mark and smashing several international box office records. Emotional, exciting and funnier than any ostensibly po-faced action franchise has the right to be, Skyfall might ignore its own MacGuffin and make you wonder how MI6 tracks people on the tube, but it proves Bond is still a sure shot onscreen.

Totally agree with seven28uk - The Grey was brilliant, totally sucked me in and I have never researched so much about wolves until after seeing that film! Cabin in the Woods, although different, not exactly a film of the year top 20. I have only seen half of the films on the list - Headhunters a good call. Avengers, hmmmmmmmmmm.... Read More
