| 1 | Watchmen | The amount of Directors and Producers that went through a war to buy the rights to that. A comic deemed "unfilmable". More

| | 4 | The Island of Dr Moreau (1996) | Really, really, really should have been No1 on this list.
Original director Richard Stanley being fired after only four days of shooting, replaced by John Frankenheimer, who re-wrote the script, then Stanley snuck back onto the production as an extra and is actually in the finished film! Add to that Val Kilmer being crazy, Marlon Brando being crazier! Cast and crew at each others throats etc and you have a story that could easily beat any of the 12 listed here. More

| | 5 | What about Exorcist: The Beginning and Dominion: prequel to the Exorcist | Talk about a mess and a half. Philip Kaufman's take on an Exorcist origins story was dumped by the studio, refilmed by Renny Harlin. Then Philip Kaufman wins a legal battle to get his version released as well? Two films with the same cast, different styles and stories. Both crap. More

| | 7 | No Fear and Loathing?! | There's some cracking footage of Thompson leaving a voicemail for a producer threatening to go to war over the Steadman-style lizard animation and Depp committing to staying on as star as long as Hunter taught his parrot to talk! More

| | 8 | Arrrrrgggghhhhh | The case of Superman II still bothers me. As it stands, both cuts are really good, but boy-oh-boy, if only they'd let Donner complete his vision at the time. It would have been so amazing. It just gives me a headache thinking about this, because I have a friend who loved the first Superman but I don't even know which cut to show him of the sequel. It's maddening! More
