Jurassic Park – John Williams (1993)

Jurassic Park
Composer: John Williams
One might argue that featuring a cue called Dennis Steals The Embryos is enough in itself to boost a soundtrack to greatness, but John Williams doesn’t rest on his laurels. There are ominous moments (the primal opening thumps, a precursor of the T-Rex ground-stomping to come), majestic moments (the main theme, first heard as the InGen helicopter whizzes towards the tropical island) and throughout a sense of high-spirited, wide-eyed adventure: not bad from a composer who was pushing 60 at the time. “It’s a rugged, noisy effort,” Williams said in 1997. “You have to match the rhythmic gyrations of the dinosaurs and create these kind of funny ballets.”

21 Yes, but...
These aren't designed as 'Greatest-of' lists or even compendiums of the scores we love the most. Without being all highfaluting, the aim is to try to capture a moment in time - in movies and popular culture - and like them or not, The Bodyguard and Titanic soundtracks were HUGE. They sold more than 70m copies between them, dominated radio playlists and came attached to two huge hits. More

22 What a predictably boring selection for the 90's!
You left out some of the best soundtracks: Léon; The Straight Story; Se7en; The Thin Red Line; Grosse Pointe Blank; Cruel Intensions; Human Traffic; The Virgin Suicides; Kikujiro and instead you include Bodyguard and Titanic!? More
