The Dark Knight Rises: Trailer Breakdown
We analyse the latest trailer for Christopher Nolan’s Batman finale

submit to reddit

Well, they’re certainly not messing with the wording. “The Epic Conclusion To The Dark Knight Legend” they’re calling this and, while not going quite as all-out as the Cinema-Con footage revealed to exhibitors in Las Vegas last week, this latest trailer certainly bangs the big-scale drum. The key word has to be escalation: the threat (Bane) is physically bigger, the damage done to Gotham and its residents greater, the stakes are higher. And now Batman has a flying machine…

Some spoilers, inevitably, follow.

Bruce Wayne, Down And Out

This is where we start: Bruce Wayne out of shape both physically and emotionally. You didn’t expect him to hop, skip and jump away from that fall off the building at The Dark Knight’s climax did you? He’s hardly Superman.

1 Well...
Well... I don't really no what to say... Except this is going to be my favorite film of all time. No question. Call me sad, call me a nerd, tell me I'm following the mainstream-Batman, Nolan-loving trend - but I don't care. He is my favorite director, and this is my favorite imagining of Batman. Enough said. This is going to be indescribably good! More

This looks great. The question I have is why they brought in Gandalf to voice-over Bane's "Your punishment must be more severe" line? More

6 WE ARE SO LUCKY.....
To have a THIRD Batman film by the same director, with the same cast, and a solid commitment to quality story telling, not just banging out another crappy plotless toy fest. Having just seen The Avengers (Avengers Assemble? pah) and enjoyed the hell out of it, with Prometheus to come and Bourne, Bond, Spiderman and The Hobbit to look forward to this year, we are so spoiled. In Nolan we trust. More
