Apple iPhone 5

For those that love iPhones (and honestly, who doesn't?) it's hard to find fault with Apple's latest iteration. Sure, there's no killer new feature like the 4's first retina display or 4S's Siri debut but while it may not be the most exciting iPhone evolution, it is the most polished. Twenty percent lighter than its predecessor and graced with a slick-looking anodized aluminium back, the most noticeable aesthetic tweak is the iPhone 5's 1136x640 screen, which is finally 16:9 to the delight of movie fans – and provides an extra row of icons for everyone else.

The addition of 4G connectivity will be a boon for those signed up to a compatible network and the new 720p front-facing camera makes FaceTime conversations a joy. Most of the iOS6 enhancements (panoramic photos, 3D maps etc) are also available for the 4S. Still, for its screen, form factor and lightning fast A6 processor the iPhone 5 remains the bucking stallion in Apple's iPhone stable and currently the most desirable handset on the market.
