Annie Hall Chick Flicks For Guys
Annie Hall

If it's bittersweet you fancy, look no further than Woody Allen's melancholy story of a love affair from soup to nuts. The rom-com that even people who don't like rom-coms love, this is funny 'cause it's true, from the awkward first date conversation (including helpful inner-monologue subtitles) to the slow deterioration of a relationship that's as dead in the water as a stalled shark.

See also: Richard Linklater's pitch-perfect Before Sunrise and Before Sunset, with two lovers who actually seem like real human beings wandering through European streets and falling in love as they do so.

Cruel Intentions - always thought it was a chick flick then watched it and realised it was a nasty, twisted (and quite brilliant) Bard update about incest and general douchebaggery all round. Read More

16 RE: Guys and Dolls!
Posted on Thursday April 22, 2010, 12:57 by aidanf
High Fidelity, The Apartment, Breakfast at Tiffany's all belong on that list rather than Titanic or 500 Days of Bollo... I mean Summer. Even the ultimate male bonding film Brokeback Mountain makes more sense than those two. And aren't Frat Pack movies like The 40-year-old Virgin, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, I Love You Man and Knocked Up all love stories in their own way? Read More

17 Guys and Dolls!
Posted on Thursday April 22, 2010, 09:24 by friendlyfire
The manliest musical that ever there was, and I'll prove it in three words: Marlon. Muthafucking. Brando. And young badass Brando, too, not Marlon the Hutt. Also, the songs are great - "Guys and Dolls", and "Sit Down, You're Rocking The Boat". And, vitally for The Lads, it's massively quotable - "Daddy, I got cider in my ear..." Read More

18 Lost in Disappointment
Posted on Thursday April 22, 2010, 08:56 by shortassros
After reading this feature I was really annoyed that Lost In Translation was not mentioned. OK it is a bit of a soppy film but that is only to women. To most guys I have spoken to it is a film that has Scarlett Johanssen in her underwear and the comedic legend that is Bill Murray. It is also impressive due to its realistic ending. This is a classic film that really should have made it onto the list. You can even classify it as a mystery if needed. What does he say to her at the end?! Read More

23 What about High Fidelity?
Posted on Wednesday April 21, 2010, 13:30 by cj5ar

24 The Quiet Man ?
Posted on Wednesday April 21, 2010, 13:00 by ingloriouslanda
What about that? Its funnier than half the movies out today, it's one of the best irish movies ever made, it's got John Wayne and Maureen O'hara in the same film and plus there's a big ass boxing match at the films end. Its the perfect chick flick for a guy to watch! Read More
