Liked the 400 blows homage, an unbelievable film
Trufaut, my favourite new wave director

It turned out to be a very cool Cannes, I'm really looking forward to seeing many of the films that were in competition, especially Audiard's A Prophet, Bellocchio's Vincere, Arnold's Fish Tank and The White Ribbon.

I've given up on Von Trier and there's no way I'm going near Jane Campion's new one

Judging by most reviews Quentin didn't hit out of the park, which is a huge disappointment. Hopefully he'll go back to the editing room and shape it into a better film.

French New Wave pastiche - yay! Nice work with the 400 Blows bit, great way to end. Beautifully complements Taken too - the revisionists will see them as natural companion pieces, I'm sure.

Considering that these are always a day (or more) behind, you'd think Damo would just record his "predictions" after the results, for a better return. :)

Am wondering if Total Film were caught on the hop, or did they film all their videos with a camera phone!

Great work on the videblogisodes, enjoyable as ever.

God, I love Taken so damn much, and yet hate it, too. Though you can't really take a film like that too seriously, I guess...

Taken is one of those 'Ronseal' movies, in that it does exactly what it says on the tin ... in it's case providing a very entertaining, action romp (which is pretty much down to Liam Neeson's performance ... anyone else would have seen this go straight to DVD).

Anyway, marvelously entertaining video diaries as ever! I now look forward to them with much glee as they hands-down beat any movie shows on TV. So, I doff my hat in gratitude at Empire's fine efforts once again. It's a shame we can't have more of these video hijinks ... how about a roundup of movie news and views and the end of each of each month?
