Is it a coincidence that both Final Destination’s poster and Code Name: Emerald’s have the stamp motif at the same spot? Well, yes it probably is. This split face is notable for the skull effect they’re doing – also seen in Ghost Rider’s one-sheet – though we feel bad for the guy on the right: how come his face is almost entirely skull? That’s not a good sign.

Some of your points make a lot of sense- but luckily I don't base a movie on the poster. If a movie has good direction, chances are good posters will be made (INCEPTION, DARK KNIGHT, uhhhh, ANY NOLAN FILM), but seeing trailers does it for me.
But, notedly, the shadowing effect looks terrible. It amounts to poor photoshop, meaning they didn't put a lot of time into photography or design either. But the caption for T3 is not to stop shadowing- it's to stop that movie from being made. Read More

Pretty sure The Tom Jane / John Travolta Punisher film featured a head split on the poster / DVD cover. You could have done something with John Travolta being mentioned twice in the article Empire, bad form indeed! Having said that, it's Friday, it's nearly home time and I couldn't give a shit.
