4. You Know My Name
From: Casino Royale (2006)
Performed by: Chris Cornell

Initially seen as something of a misstep, Chris Cornell's Casino Royale theme deserves a critical re-evaluation. In fact, we'd even go so far as to say that it might just be the best Bond theme of the last 30 years. It's certainly the rockiest, with crunching guitars signalling intent from the very first bars, while Cornell - an unusual choice, given that nobody except Soundgarden or Audioslave fans have a clue who he is - builds himself up to a series of throat-piercing screams at the end that would certainly send the Connery vintage reaching for his earmuffs. Inbetween, though, a subtle and elegant melody unfolds, before reaching a chorus that, once it squatted in your brain, refused to leave.

Best lyrics: "I've seen angels fall from blinding heights / But you yourself are nothing so divine."
