44. Colin Salmon
Nearly Bond in: Casino Royale
Salmon, who played M's chief of staff opposite Brosnan's Bond, was rumoured as a contender to play the first Black Bond, especially since one bookie stopped taking bets on his casting after a large number were placed.

45. Rupert Friend
Nearly Bond in: Casino Royale
Keira Knightley's other half has a string of solid performances under his belt, and reportedly read for the role, but was presumably rejected for being too young for Bond at 27.

46. Dougray Scott
Nearly Bond in: Casino Royale
Scott was awarded the role by the Sunday Mirror in 2004, who cited his ability to step into Sean Connery's Scottish-but-suave shoes after his Mission: Impossible II villain performance. Sadly for Scott, the Mirror were not joined by the Bond producers, who gave the role to Craig instead.
