Nearly Bond in: The Living Daylights
The man whose name looks like it should rhyme auditioned, but was likely too young at that stage. Bean returned 8 years later to play villain Alec Trevelyn in GoldenEye cause bad guys have more fun anyway.
33. Hugh Grant
Nearly Bond in: GoldenEye
Um, really? Well, he's sort of debonair, and like Bond he went to Oxbridge, but really that's all she wrote. Grant himself would probably be the first to admit that he's a little too self-deprecating to be Bond.
34. Clive Owen
Nearly Bond in: Casino Royale
Owen seemed like the front-runner for Bond after Brosnan left the series, but had perhaps played too similar a character in Crouper - and besides, he was perhaps too obvious a choice. He coulda nailed it though.
