Bond Versus Fashion
The Spy Who Loved Me (1977)
The Spy Who Loved Me was obviously blind. Bond continues on his one-man assault of all things fashion with his wardrobe in this film, the first screamingly bad example of which sees Bond dressed as in a full Arabian desert-dress and kufiyya head-cloth that makes him look like an extra from a David Lean epic. Then there’s the navy blazer he wears with white trousers. White trousers! Finally there’s the safari outfit. Tan safari jacket, blue shirt, beige slacks. Safari style was not cool then, it is not cool now, and it is most definitely not Bond.
