Avenging Angels: Which Seraphs Can Kick Ass | Highway To Heaven (1984-'89) Avenging Angels: Which Seraphs Can Kick Ass
Highway To Heaven (1984-'89)

Yes, we know it's TV, but no list of angels would be complete without the bouffant and much-loved Michael Landon. With the help of bearded ex-cop Victor French, the angelic Landon is sent by God to spend five years showing his movie counterparts how this angel business is done. He looks out for the unfortunate, helps the helpless, redirects the lost, rescues small kittens from trees, and miracles bread into cake. (OK, not so much the last one). It's a virtuoso display of holy helpfulness Bettany will do well to match.

Angelic retribution level (out of 10): -1

Chances against massed armies of Heaven: He's a lover, not a fighter.

How can you include TV show angels on this list, and neglect Castiel et al. Especially given Zachariah and Uriel's actions. I don't want to post spoilers, but people who have seen season 4 have to agree that they are pretty avengeful. Read More

4 Jonathan

I loved watching Highway to Heaven as a kid! It was always a bit of a sunday afternoon tearjerker. I still remember watching an episode where Jonathan is up against Lucifer played by Anthony Zerbe, who was on Earth under the guise of a sharp, white-suited joke/magic shop owner. Ooo, what a battle of Good and Evil it was!!! Brilliant! Read More

Just read the Dogma one. "Well, one of them's the Angel of Death and the other's Jason Bourne" I think you'll find that Jason Bourne is the Angel of death here. Read More

Aw, but if you're going to include TV angels, I have to be a real girl here and plead the case for Supernatural's Castiel. The warrior of God! Plus looking like Misha Collins is a definite plus! He manages to hold his own in the looks department with the Winchester brothers, is sarcastic to demons, and fights to avert the Apocalypse. He'll smite you if you're bad and defies the Archangels when they're wrong, give the guy some credit! Read More

11 Walken: The Best Angel
Posted on Thursday August 13, 2009, 20:40 by paul.mccluskey
Christopher Walken kicked ass as Gabriel. Even though the first two sequels were direct-to-DVD, they are thoroughly entertaining due to his awesome performance. This speech from The Prophecy II is proof that Gabriel is one of his best performances: "Let's understand each other. I sang the first hymn when the stars were born. Not that long ago, I announced to a young woman, Mary, who it was she was expecting. On the other hand, I've turned rivers into blood. Kings into cripples. Cities to salt. So, I don't think that I have to explain myself to you." It's delivered with such cold menace it's chilling. Read More
