Edward Scissorhands

Conceived as long ago as the '70s when Tim Burton was just a teen, the story of a manchild with shears for fingers came from a drawing doodled by the man himself while at school but it took the success of the likes of Beetlejuice and Batman to get the ball rolling. Regularly cited as Burton's favourite among his own films, and arguably his most influential, it's also one of his most personal, based on his hometown, Burbank, and dealing with teenage angst, exclusion, and, um, having scissor-fingers. Before deciding on newcomer Depp, other names apparently considered for the lead role were Tom Cruise, Jim Carrey, Robert Downey Jr., and, wait for it, Michael Jackson - who Depp later used for inspiration in another Burton movie, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

2 Make us a film please Tim?

The Batman films Tim did were always the best. I always used to read the Batman graphic novels and later there was a Robin set also. It would be good if Tim could make a Robin film, the kind of dark, gothic look would be perfect and you could count on it being well made. The film would write itself virtually and im sure plenty of people would go see it. Hope for it by 2011ish, sure it will make a packet :-) Read More
