Unmade Burton

It's testament to Tim Burton's almost unbroken run of success that there are few projects he's tried and failed to get off the ground. The most famous stalled Burton film, however, is unquestionably Superman Lives ("I was pushing for it to be [called] Superman" said Burton), with Nicolas Cage set to star as the Kryptonian superhero and Kevin Spacey in talks to play Lex Luthor. The idea was to emphasise Superman's alienness, his otherness: "I was excited about working with Nic because it would have been the first time you would believe that nobody could recognise Clark Kent as Superman - that he could physically change his persona. Nic is the kind of actor who could pull that off." But amid budget concerns, script revisions and a reportedly darker costume, Warners pulled the plug. Still, at least Spacey got to revisit Luthor years later with Bryan Singer.

2 Make us a film please Tim?

The Batman films Tim did were always the best. I always used to read the Batman graphic novels and later there was a Robin set also. It would be good if Tim could make a Robin film, the kind of dark, gothic look would be perfect and you could count on it being well made. The film would write itself virtually and im sure plenty of people would go see it. Hope for it by 2011ish, sure it will make a packet :-) Read More
