The A To Z Of Tim Burton | Remake
The A To Z Of Tim Burton | Remake

Remake

Amid his successes, both commercial and - generally speaking - critical, Tim Burton directed one howler of a remake in Planet of the Apes. While the ape effects and monkeying about were more-or-less effective, and Burton's trademark style reined in to fit the sci-fi environment, the ending not only failed to match the original's shock value, but made no sense at all. So, what, apes travelled really far back in time? Marky Mark changed history? There's something dimensional going on? No one knows; even the novel adaptation just stops before it gets to the scene where Mark Wahlberg returns to his Earth to find apes in charge. No wonder Burton stuck more closely to the source material for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, getting rid of Willy Wonka's Golden Geese and ensuring that Charlie didn't drink any fizzily flying lemonade that made him just as guilty as the other visitors to the factory.

2 Make us a film please Tim?

The Batman films Tim did were always the best. I always used to read the Batman graphic novels and later there was a Robin set also. It would be good if Tim could make a Robin film, the kind of dark, gothic look would be perfect and you could count on it being well made. The film would write itself virtually and im sure plenty of people would go see it. Hope for it by 2011ish, sure it will make a packet :-) Read More
