The A To Z Of Quentin Tarantino Quentin Tarantino is back on the big screen with Inglourious Basterds, his spaghetti-spawned homage to classic war movies that does to the Nazi Party what Pulp Fiction did to pawnshop ownership. To mark the occasion, we've assembled a compendium of classic Tarantino tricks and trademarks in celebration of the world's biggest geek director. Welcome to the alphabetical anthology of a true movie original...
Long before Reservoir Dogs' colour-coded crims stuck up that LA jeweller, Mssrs Blue, Brown, Green and Grey were terrorising the New York subway with matching trenchcoats, submachine guns and seriously dodgy stick-on 'taches. The Taking Of Pelham One Two Three, Joseph Sargent's criminally-underrated '70s thriller, lent more than pseudonyms to Tarantino's debut, though. Distrust, cynicism and sarcasm coursed through its veins like electricity through a grid, a world-weariness shared by other Dogs' influences, John Huston's The Asphalt Jungle and Kubrick's The Killing. Tony Scott's Pelham remake meanwhile discards Mr Blue but keeps the dodgy 'tache - see the original first.

Original?

Interesting ... Tarantino does acknowledge his own influences, but his style is still his own. So, does this make him a post-modern auteur, or could he be more easily described as an auteur working withing a post-modern world. Read More

Good feature... but for a man who more than wears his influences on his sleeve I don't think the term 'original can be applied! Oh and if you speak to him tell him to stop making films in chapters! Read More
