The A To Z Of Quentin Tarantino Quentin Tarantino is back on the big screen with Inglourious Basterds, his spaghetti-spawned homage to classic war movies that does to the Nazi Party what Pulp Fiction did to pawnshop ownership. To mark the occasion, we've assembled a compendium of classic Tarantino tricks and trademarks in celebration of the world's biggest geek director. Welcome to the alphabetical anthology of a true movie original...
Along with the English aristocracy, big business, and the bit of the ocean where mental sharks are born, The Third Reich has given cinema many of its memorable villains. There's been 'good Nazis' (Tom Cruise, James Mason), "Following-orders" types (Maximilian Schell, James Coburn, Michael Caine), and the card-carrying psychopaths (Ralph Fiennes, Lawrence Olivier, the entire cast of Come And See). Tarantino clears a space in that last list for the charismatic Christoph Waltz, Inglourious Basterds' notorious 'Jew Hunter', SS Col. Hans Landa. It's a chilling performance from a German actor we can expect to see a lot more from, all the more impressive considering he carries it all off while smoking a huge novelty pipe.

Original?

Interesting ... Tarantino does acknowledge his own influences, but his style is still his own. So, does this make him a post-modern auteur, or could he be more easily described as an auteur working withing a post-modern world. Read More

A True Movie Original...

Good feature... but for a man who more than wears his influences on his sleeve I don't think the term 'original can be applied! Oh and if you speak to him tell him to stop making films in chapters! Read More
