Since crafting the Batman Begins and Dark Knight scores with James Howard Newton, German composer Hans Zimmer has lent his hefty talents to Inception and the final part of the Bat-trilogy. Like other great director/scorer pairings, Sergio Leone and Ennio Morricone among them, Nolan frees his composer from visual considerations. "I like Hans to write freely and not be trying to hit cuts and squeeze things into the tightest edits," says the director of the Hesse harmoniser, "[because] I want to hear where his imagination will go."
