Best Film
The Philadelphia Story, which was a brilliantly cast - James Stewart and Cary Grant joining Hepburn - and fast-paced farce. Only trouble with it is, if you've seen High Society, the musical version of the same story, you might miss the bangin' choons.
Notable Pairings
The Philadelphia Story, Little Women, Adam's Rib

What's The Secret Of Their Success?
George Cukor was known throughout his Hollywood career as a "women's director", back at a time when women's pictures were an important genre - and apart from that unfortunate brief period where she was dubbed "box-office poison", Hepburn remained a popular figure for nearly 50 years. Working together, the pair's taste seemed to sync, both making witty, intelligent films that were never just girly - and in the collaborations with Spencer Tracy, they also feature some of the great battles of the sexes.

Were They As Good With Anyone Else?
Well, when you have as many Oscar nominations as Kathryn Hepburn, you're clearly an all-rounder - and Cukor made My Fair Lady and A Star Is Born without Hepburn, so it's fair to say he didn't depend on a crutch either.
