Why You Should Own It
OK, we’re cheating a little on this one. You could buy the pre-Nolan Batmans in their individual UK editions, but we didn’t want to take up four slots on the list. Burton’s movies are an artful interpretation of Gotham, but Joel Schumacher’s whiffy Batman and Robin is absolutely the best DVD. Thanks to his honesty, it’s an education on how a studio can forget that they’re making a film and not an advert for their toy line. Depressing, but well worth paying attention to.
