Why You Should Own It
Alien Quadrilogy DVD That only two films in the quartet are fantastic does nothing to ruin this as a DVD package. The most satisfying watches are, of course, Ridley Scott’s murky Alien and James Cameron’s tooled-up follow-up, both with commentaries, alternative cuts and heaps of supplementary gubbins. But Alien 3 proves the most interesting, extras-wise, with the exploration into the much-discussed alternative version. The only shame is a lack of input from David Fincher on what went wrong.
Best Extra
Tales of the Wooden Planet, a look at the bizarre film that Alien 3 could have been, as opposed to the bizarre film it is.
