There's No Pixar Film In 2014. Here Are 7 Steps To Help You Survive The Wait

There's No Pixar Film In 2014. Here Are 7 Steps To Help You Survive The Wait

Today Pixar announced that they are moving the planned release date of The Good Dinosaur from 2014 to 2015, to allow more time to rejig the movie following the removal of Bob Peterson as director. Originally due in May next year, the film will now be out in late 2015, after the summer release of Inside Out. Finding Dory, originally down for 2015 as well, has been shunted to 2016. This all means that 2014, for the first time since 2005, will be A Year Without A Pixar Film. How will you cope? Well, we have a few suggestions.

1. Cultivate zen
Realise, deep within your soul, that it's a better idea to change a film's planned release date to have the time to get it right, than to rush something out before it's ready. Contemplate a nearby tortoise or snail or something, sniff some incense and breathe deeply through your nose. Everything will be fine. The dinosaurs will get here in their own time.

2. Watch The Land Before Time, or Dinosaur
We're sure Pixar will be somewhere along these lines, only just a teensy bit better. Incidentally, did you know that The Land Before Time had twelve sequels? Twelve! That thing has lasted longer than the dinosaurs did*!

3. Remember How To Train Your Dragon 2
2014 is not a wasteland without Pixar! There's still the sequel to the most Pixar-y film that Pixar never made, How To Train Your Dragon 2. Toothless is back! So we still get a film about a giant lizard of good character who hangs out with a human person who wears fur a lot. Arguably, The Good Dinosaur would have clashed with this and it's better to have some air between them.

4. Thank Heaven For Miyazaki
There is still one film to come from animation legend Hayao Miyazaki, and that's The Wind Rises, which is likely to arrive in the UK early next year. Studio Ghibli also has The Tale Of Princess Kaguya due late next year, so there's plenty of Japanese magic to compensate for Pixar's absence.

5. And There's Laika
Another piece of glorious stop-motion animation is due next year from Laika, the studio that gave us Coraline and ParaNorman. They have The Boxtrolls due next September. which is the story of an orphan called Eggs raised by the eponymous rubbish collectors. Think The Wombles but less furry.

6. And Disney Animation
Disney Animation is due to release Big Hero 6 next year, based on the Marvel comic and set in the metropolis of San Fransokyo. The tiny snippet released so far looks utterly magic, so we're hoping the story lives up to the setting.

7. You Still Have All The DVDs, Right?
If it absolutely, positively must be Pixar, why not go back to all those DVDs and Blu rays on your shelf? There must be an extra somewhere there that you have yet to watch, or a forgotten short that you missed. Failing that, just start watching them again. Until you can name every single character in this quiz, you don't know the films well enough.

8. In The Brain Trust We Trust
This has got to be the best thing for the film, right? Just imagine how good all that extra time could make it.

We hope that helps. Just take up yoga or rock climbing or whatever helps, and hold on until 2015. It's really not that far away (Star Wars fans, that also goes for you).

*It has not. Please don't write in to correct us, paleontologists.

This is nice way to stop our eagerness to wait for the new pixar film. This can be very fascinating one in order to check our patience for watching films online. Nice information. Thanks... :)

The last 3 Pixar films were bottom tier Pixar for sure. So I'm not freaking out that there will be no Pixar in 2014
