 Tonight, I’ll get beat up by the inventor of Scrabble.
Tonight, my ego will be writing cheques my body can’t cash.
Tonight, I’ll debate the merits of the Kirby Silver Surfer vs the Moebius Silver Surfer.
Tonight, I’ll be listening to Bela Lugosi’s Dead.
Tonight, I’ll see everything with an orange filter.
Tonight, I’ll feel the need… the need for speed.
Tonight, I’ll take someone to see three kung fu movies.
Tonight, if you touch me again, I’ll kill ya.
Tonight, I’ll be thinking about Creasy’s art, and how he painted his masterpiece. Boy, did he ever.
Tonight, I’ll be thinking of some of the best character names in movie history: Cole Trickle, Joe Hallenbeck, Brill. Hell, even Johnny Wishbone.
Tonight, I’ll pick up a gallon of milk on the way home.
Tonight, I’ll be missing Tony Scott.

I'm really gonna miss him, I literally used to check his imdb and wiki page for the new project, always looking forward to what he'll be creating next and then there was no more. Now we're stuck with Transformers, Battleships and other brain dead cgi schlock. enemy of The State, Crimson Tide, Spy Game is one of my favorites, they're all great. RIP Tony you never took yourself too seriously and always put cool into every movie |

Nice one Chris
I sent Tony a fan letter way back in 1994. Along with the letter I’d enclosed a crude picture card of himself and asked him if he could sign it for me and send it back to England so I could place it among my ever growing VHS collection of his films which then included a hard to find copy of The Hunger. A few months later I received a large AirMail parcel and he'd enclosed the signed card as well as an autographed director’s cut laserdisc of True Romance (which, at the time, was unavailable for home release on VHS due to some copycat killings in Europe whereby some couples claimed they’d been inspired by True Romance and Natural Born Killers if memory serves); on the back of the card he'd written "Thank you for your flattering letter, that was very sweet of you" they are still my most treasured possessions and a reflection of his generosity and kindness. He was my favourite director and yesterday’s news hit me like a brick. I watched Ridley Scott’s 1st film, Boy and Bicycle, last night in remembrance and felt a shiver watching the final shot of a 16 year old Tony riding his bike towards the sea. The film world is that much richer for his contribution. RIP Tony, Your No.1 Fan, Lee x

I worked on the set of Prometheus and was told by a crew member that the reason that Ridley chose to use The Old Man of Storr on Skye for location filming was directly on the advise of Tony who was a keen climber and knew the area well.
Its very difficult to say who has been more influential between the two brothers in terms of film making... In terms of main stream movies Tony made the type of action films that everyone tried to emulate so you would have to give him the nod.
True Romance is true modern classic. RIP Tony. You will be missed. |

The 1st film I ever bought on VHS was The Last Boy Scout, and not only is it still my favourite Tony Scott film, but also one of the best example of action/thriller cinema of the 90s. It was really sad to hear he killed himself, such a great loss.
He really did pioneer that style of kinetic film making which influenced Michael Bay, Peter Berg and Francis Lawrence amongst others. And I know this isn't the thread for this, but it annoyed me when he used to get dismissed by the press (this magazine excluded, of course) for not wanting to aspire to high art, but he did so unapologetically, and, in my eyes, was an auteur.
