The Penguin
Born Oswald Cobblepot, The Penguin has major short man syndrome. An unpleasant childhood, which saw him bullied for his diminutive height and pointy nose, and mistreatment by his wealthy mother, drives Oswald to an angry life of crime. He traditionally uses tricked-up umbrellas as weapons.
Would he work in Nolan's world?
It'd be a stretch. He could work if the deformity - including a gimpy hip that causes him to waddle - was played up as something that drives his anger at society and the poster boy perfect Bruce Wayne, but we'd imagine that would mean a more reclusive, shadowy character, rather than the traditionally showy dandy. The monocle, top hat, cigarette holder version would probably look ridiculous.
Who would we cast?
Perfect casting is Danny DeVito, but he's done it. Philip Seymour Hoffman was rumoured a good while ago (erroneously, since the rumour was for The Dark Knight) and we'd put the fight between him and, as second round to their Capote face-off, Toby Jones.
