Uh, thanks very much. True story about American people who make movies. The studio heads in America, friend of mine made a movie that had a scene where an actress's head was obscured, and the preview audience got confused, they didn't know what character it was, they thought it was somebody else. So when they screened it for the head of the studio, the director leaned over and said, "You see this part where you can't see the actress's face, well that's confusing to people so we're going to do a quick reshoot where she's facing this way we can see her, eliminate the confusion. And the studio head said, "Well, couldn't you just flip the film?" True. True story.
God, I love the British. Thanks so much for getting the joke. I want to thank James L Brookes when he said to me at one point when I wanted to be an actor, "Look, if you'er so tortured, be tortured over something noble, if you're tortured about something make it be writing." I want to thank Joel Silver, the producer of this film for producing the torture. I want to thank the cast, the new kid on the block, Michelle Monaghan's brilliant. Also the one that doesn't do drugs and the one that isn't an asshole. (laughter, applause.) Mostly though, I'd like to thank my beautiful young son Alex. No, I'm kidding, I'm bullshitting, I don't have a son, but I want acting roles. Thank you very much.
