Collected by Andy Serkis
Thank the sweet lord fuck. This was absolutely, really needed because we were doing really badly this year and this film was made with a lot of passion and a lot of love, the script was crafted, it was a very political film and it only cost $270 million (laughter). We desperately needed this, thank you very much. I know that Peter is gutted that he can't be here tonight, but he sent a little message so here it is.

Peter Jackson Video Acceptance Speech
So yeah, so I assume that Empire's Best Film award will be Brokeback Mountain, so here it is, Best Film of the Year, Brokeback Mountain (falters). But, it doesn't say Brokeback Mountain. It says Best Film King Kong. You've given it to us. What insanity is this? My god, thank you very much you know, if I were having an Empire Best Fiml or an Oscar, you know what one I would pick…well I would…well. Well the Empire award, the Perspex is really nice, I mean it's, it's great and if you put it on the shelf sometimes if the sun shines through it at the right angle you get these great little rainbowy effects of the wallpaper just behind, it's kind of really - it is actually very cool and thank you very much. Got to obviously thank Universal and Jan and Carol our producers, and Fran and Philippa for a great script and our cast. I mean what can I say about the cast, such a well-mannered, polite, wonderful group of people to work with.

Deleted scenes from King Kong

Jack: I think I just nailed this fuckin' take, movie over!
Naomi: Oh I have a question about the script Mr Denham, it - is it - it, (oh for fuck's sake)
Naomi: The thing that I was afraid of was that you would be one of those self-obsessed ffff-fuckwits!
Adrien: I always knew you were never the tough guy you play on this fuck this mother - !
Jack: Fuck!
Jack: It's gonna disappear, to the end of the fuckin' universe!
Andy (Lumpy): There's nothing to fear from bacteria! It's a - ah fuck that bit's gone.
Naomi: Shit.
Jack: Aaaaah, shoes a-flame! (possibly. Vaguely sounds that way)
Camp man: The dinosaurs! They're coming!

Peter Jackson: But seriously, most of the time it went really smoothly, apart from when Jack Black had to remember his dialogue.

Jack Black: Ladies and gentlemen, what you are about to see - fuuuck it.
Jack Black: Shitballs.
Jack Black: Anklehorn! Hoist up the ca - the sail, the mainsail - fuckballs.
Jack Black: Rational - fuckography.
Jack Black: The rational of the belief of the fuckin' WHAT?
Jack Black: The man who risked all to win the flavour of a ffff-uckin' fruity two-shoes.
Jack Black: And let me tell you Ann, Jack Driscoll does just not want anyone of anyanaynan ofofof interest to me.
Jack Black: Batch of -
Jack Black: Yeah Jack Driscoll tripped on his (insane noise)
Jack Black: Shiggigigig. Shiggagagy. Fellas you going to -

Peter Jackson: So what we ended up doing is not giving Jack many lines to say, but even then he sometimes forgot what movie he was in.

(Lightsabre fight on Skull Island)

Peter Jackson: And obviously Andy Serkis, I mean Andy did an incredible job, he came to King Kong with not exactly an open mind, I mean he had very distinct ideas on how Kong should look and how his fur should be shaped (CGI dancing gorillas follows Andy dancing) and as far as movement goes, Andy's very first audition that he did for us, he was trying a vision of Kong that he had brought along that, well, it really wasn't quite what we were thinking of (Andy fools around on screen) but anyway we managed to keep Andy under control so all in all we were very very proud of the film that we made, and even more so now that you've given us this wonderful award, thank you Empire magazine and thanks to all of the Empire readers. We really appreciate this. We're big fans of the magazine and we're just at the moment, there's a little sneak preview, we're doing the extended cut of King Kong for release later this year on DVD and it's finally going to answer that 70-year-old question, of how did they get King Kong back to New York, so here's a little sneak previews for you and I'll say goodbye.

Shot of ship heading back to New York, gradually pans away to reveal Kong clinging on to the back.
