"Needless to say I'm happy to get the Independent Spirit Award but the first award given was for Best Newcomer and while I was practising my acceptance speech Martine walked up. And I was thinking, maybe I'll tackle her and go up and grab the award, or just tackle her for the sake of that. But instead I waited for my moment here. I would like to make one note about my autobiography - How I Made a 100 Movies in Hollywood and Never Lost A Dime. That title was put on by the publisher and I called my editor and said I'd made at that time around 250 or 300 films and I've lost occasionally. And the editor said, "Has the title of every picture you've ever made exactly reflected what was in the picture?" And I said, "Call the book anything you want!" So I would like very much to thank Empire magazine and you for this award."
