Love Actually
Director: Richard Curtis
What Empire said: "A perfectly respectable debut for Curtis."

Duncan Kenworthy
"Wow, this is incredibly gratifying. 2003 was a fantastic year for British film, so to be up there and to be here is pretty amazing. And all the more because it is the readers of Empire magazine - the most educated and intelligent readership in the world - much better educated than the movie reviewers. So thanks very much. Thanks to a great cast and a great crew and our resident genius Richard Curtis."

Richard Curtis.
"There was one review which said, Crap Actually, so I'm thrilled by this. Thank you very much indeed. Martine - I thought you were a shag angel in Eastenders and a shag angel in this, so my opinion of your envelope hasn't changed. If ever I win an award I like to thank my girlfriend Emma who turns these horrible big messes I write into cogent films - she was the one who cut the Hobbit subplot in this film. I would also like to say it's an unbelievably great thing making pictures here because the talent pool of actors in the UK is so startling. I wrote this film and there were 22 leads and we found completely the perfect person to play each role. And I think that's the unbelievably lucky thing that they take two dimensional stuff I write and turn it into three dimensional people and I'm in awe of all their work and very grateful indeed for this. Thank you very much."
