Emma Thompson
Love Actually
What Empire said: "A fairly entertaining way to spend a couple of hours, and it’s great to see so many of the UK’s best actors sharing screen space"
Emma Thompson
"Can I just first thank Bill for his George Bush thing which I think was better than any film made for the last 20 years. This was so unexpected - oh great Empire readers. I was once at an Empire Awards back in 1897. It was a long time ago and it wasn't nearly so grand - about eight of us in a pub somewhere. All I can say is you've made an old woman very happy. I'd like to thank all the women on the tube who came up to me and said 'Thank you. We understand what you've been through.' [sobbing] which means that I really ought to thank the men for being unfaithful and making my part that much more effective. And of course, Mr Curtis. Thank you Richard for writing it, and giving us all the jokes over the years. You're great. I'm so pleased with this and I can't believe I got it. Thank you so much."

A BIG THANK-YOU!
You can't have an awards ceremony without winners thanking their partners, their agent and even God - so here are the people that Empire magazine would like to thank for (sob!) making it all possible.
