Ray Harryhausen
The honorary awards for the evening were the Inspiration Award which went to stop-motion animation guru Ray Harryhausen and the Independent Spirit Award which went to prolific director Roger Corman. But when Sigourney Weaver stepped up to receive her Career Achievement Award there was nary a bottom left on seat as thunderous applause shook the room. Introduced by Alien co-star John Hurt, Weaver was visibly moved by the tribute and conveyed her respect to both the Empire readers and us good old Brits as a whole. "It's a great honour and I'll never forget it."

All in all the night was a resounding success with all present on top form. Once the ceremony concluded (and, more importantly, the bar opened) the party kicked off with stars and Empire staff alike gorging themselves on fine food, good company and all the free booze our bodies could stand. What followed was a bacchanalian wassail of titanic proportions, from which we duly dragged ourselves to run back to the office and report the night's events in full for you lot. So we hope you appreciate it.

A BIG THANK-YOU!
You can't have an awards ceremony without winners thanking their partners, their agent and even God - so here are the people that Empire magazine would like to thank for (sob!) making it all possible.
