Jackson didn't walk away empty handed though, taking Best Film and, following up the last two year's personally directed acceptance videos by speaking to the audience from the front seat of a roller coaster in New Zealand. 'I'm really busy at the moment,' he shouted, as he hurtled up and down the ride, giving his speech at full tilt in between screams and prayers.

| Bernard Hill |
Keeping the Middle-earth momentum going, Bernard Hill brought a tear to the eye, pronouncing "I shall treasure this more than anything," as he accepted the Sony Ericsson Scene of The Year award for Return of the King's ride of the Rohirrim. One of the evening's most popular wins was Andy Serkis who picked up the gong for Best British Actor, prompting whoops and yells from all attending as Gollum's better half humbly bade thanks and cradled his Plexiglas trophy.
The Best Actress winner Uma Thurman, accepted her award by video...or did she? Seen at first from the rear in her Kill Bill tracksuit and flowing blonde locks, but seated strangely in what looked like The Dog and Duck down the road, Thurman spun round on her bar stool to reveal… Johnny Vegas in a wig. Pint of stout in one hand and a fag clutched in the other, the comic gracefully accepted the award on her behalf, bemoaning his lost love form last year: Dustin Hoffman. "It's the story of a young lady who moves to London, meets Dustin Hoffman at an awards do, swaps numbers, rings him...no work ever comes of it."
