Best Thriller The Departed
In 2006, Martin Scorsese's take on the Infernal Affair's trilogy became the most commercially successful movie in his thirty years behind the camera. Returning to the crime-ridden mean streets of the city, the director assembled a pedigree cast for this bloody journey into the Boston gangster underworld. Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson and - in a career-topping turn - Mark Wahlberg all came together under the master's guidance to spin a web of intrigue, violence and, most potently, intense action. The movie's awards-season victories were popular and well-deserved, making The Departed a gritty, classy addition to Scorsese's peerless body of work.
