As soon as Bryan Singer announced he'd be bringing the last son of Krypton back to the big screen, there was only one question on everybody's lips. Who would, who could play Superman? And so it came to be that Iowa-born Brandon Routh donned the cape, slipped on the pants and became Kal-El for the twenty-first century. With an uncanny resemblance to the legendary Christopher Reeve, Routh's wholesome heroism and damn fine flying skills proved one of highlights of Superman Returns when it rocketed into cinemas last summer. The Man Of Steel was well and truly back.
