There’s more change happening at Camp Marvel, though this time it’s in the company’s TV department. Drew Goddard, who had been attached to write, produce and oversee the Daredevil series for Netflix, has departed the project to focus on Sony’s Spider-Man spin-off Sinister Six film.

But (Man Without) fear not. This doesn’t mean that the Daredevil project is blindly searching for a new show-runner: fellow Joss Whedon alumnus Steven S, DeKnight will be taking on the duties, with Goddard remaining involved as a consulting executive producer.

Though Goddard brought avowed Daredevil fandom to the project, we’re not as surprised by his departure as we were by Edgar Wright leaving Ant-Man after years spent developing that film. The Sinister Six film is one that will take a huge amount of lifting to put together, and DeKnight offers experience running TV series as the big boss after three years on Spartacus.

The Daredevil show, which will chronicle the further adventures of blind, super powered lawyer Matt Murdoch, is planned as part of an interlocking set of stories following four New York-based heroes who will eventually team up for a miniseries currently called The Defenders. Daredevil is scheduled to shoot in New York this summer for a 2015 launch on Netflix

Your Comments

Title is misleading
Because Steven S Denight coming on board is much better news. Goddard is good but Denight is an amazing show runner as his work on Spartacus proves. With him on board Daredevil is now my most anticipated film / tv show / anything coming up. More
