Godzilla Sequel In Development
To almost no one's surprise

Godzilla-sequel-in-development

As you may already have read, the new Godzilla has opened to enormous success at box offices around the world, and that can mean only two things: lots of Hollywood types are back-slapping each other about the bonuses to come and plans are being put in place for a Godzilla sequel.

Given how eager Legendary Pictures in particular has been to develop franchises, it should be a no-brainer for all involved to start working on ideas for another movie, especially since Legendary and Warner Bros., have been considering the prospect for a while now.

Godzilla is now stomping towards an estimated $196 million worldwide in its first weekend. Director Gareth Edwards has hinted in the past that he has ideas for a potential sequel, but has kept further details under his hat, preferring to let his work do the talking. Now we’re certain he’ll be besieged with calls officially asking him to take on on the new film, though he may still choose to do what he did with Monsters, and let someone else handle any sequels.

Gamera, meanwhile, is already on the phone to his agent about a possible role in the new movie. Expect to hear more on Godzilla 2 (or whatever) soon, because we imagine they'll be aiming to have this one up and running quickly given that start.

Your Comments

I enjoyed Godzilla, it certainly got more right than wrong but I didn't come out of the cinema buzzing, I have to say this was mainly because my expectations were built up too high in the last month before its release. Thats ok though, i'm still looking forward to seeing more from Gareth Edwards although perhaps not with a sequel.. More

YES.
We knew the world would not be the same. A few people laughed, a few people cried. Most people were silent. Now he is become awesome, the destroyer of box offices. This could be the greatest news ever communicated amongst the societies of men. As long as Edwards returns and the same standard of godzillocity is kept, if not somehow surpassed, then there is hope for the future of cinema. More

RE: What!?
Poor reviews didn't stop them making 4 transformer films did it?! No, because they were bathing in dollar bills y'all. As hammy as the film was, Godzilla could of done with being more like Specific Rim. I have to say Godzilla was boring. More monster action and less talking in the next one please. More

Unlike Bay and Snyder the action is restrained, I found the character development passable Aaron Taylor Johnson was much better in this than Kick Ass 2. I walked out wanting more Godzilla which is why I'd welcome a sequel. More

What!?
Yes it's been busy and brought in money BUT the reviews have been poor for it as has the majority of movie goers reception of the film (by what I have heard so far). So why spend money on a sequel when that money can go somewhere better!? More
