Arnold Schwarzenegger Spills Terminator: Genesis Secrets
And John Boyega is reportedly wanted for a role

Arnold Schwarzenegger Spills Terminator: Genesis Secrets

Usually before big films start shooting, everyone is on lockdown lest plot details leak. But it's hard to stop the gob of Arnold Schwarzenegger– rumour has it his mouth alone could bench press 293 pounds back in the day – and he seemed happy to spill a couple of details about Terminator: Genesis to MTV.

Of course, letting the most iconic element of the new film drop hints isn't exactly going to hurt the awareness of the movie, which finds Alan Taylor directing a complex spin on the mythology that reportedly takes elements of the first three films from the series. That includes, apparently, a chance to see what an older version of Arnie's T-800 cyborg would look like. Wait... older?

"The way that the character is written, it's a machine underneath," Schwarzenegger says. "It's this metal skeleton. But above that is human flesh. And the Terminator's flesh ages, just like any other human being's flesh. Maybe not as fast. But it definitely ages." We suppose that makes sense, and would help lessen the CG/make-up required to give his character a youthful appearance.

"Terminator deals a lot with time travel, so there will be a younger T-800," Schwarzenegger continues. "And then what that model does later on when it gets reprogrammed, and who gets ahold of him. So it will be all kinds of interesting twists in the movie, but I feel so good." Presumably it will also explore the Terminator's younger days when his mother wanted him to clean his room before heading out on a human hunting expedition.

In all seriousness, this certainly does make the film sound even more interesting, even if it adds to the complexity. Patrick Lussier and Laeta Kalogridis are the people who have apparently mapped it all out and Jason Clarke, Emilia Clarke, Jai Courtney and J.K. Simmons are all involved in front of the camera. According to The Hollywood Reporter's Borys Kit, rising star John Boyega – who has also tested for Star Wars – is being targeted as the son of T2 Cyberdyne executive Miles Dyson. So it would appear he has two chances to take part in the continuation of an iconic sci-fi saga, but will only end up in one, assuming he scores either role, that is...

Terminator: Genesis is scheduled to hit our screens on June 26, 2015.

Fair point archie119. Don't doubt your Terminator love. For me, every time they add to the mythology or try to go deeper, they take away the sharpness of the original. We don't need to know all this crap. They got lucky with T2, primarily because it was Cameron. 3 and Salvation are what I call Terminatorsploitation - ok when you're bored, but shouldn't really exist. More

Well its got to be better than the last one. I hope. Please make it a cert 15 or even better an 18. I am fed up with movies these days cutting them to make them suitable for 12 or 12A. Its utter bollocks watching a film like Terminator 4 or Die Hard in the Cinema with a load of screaming brats munching effing sweets all the bloody time. Hmm glad I got that off my chest. More

Can't fucking wait!
Sorry, but I don't know from this short article how this sounds like a bag of shite??? Of course it won't be as good as the first two movies, but this possibly has the potential to be the best since? As a Terminator fan I will defo' be going to see it :) More

Sounds like a bag of shite. I'd probably be more intrigued if the Terminator hooked up with Jennifer Aniston. More

Remember what he told John Connor in Terminator 2?
"I'm a cybernetic organism. Living tissue over a metal endoskeleton." So I guess it would make sense that he ages, and it fits into the mythology of the first 2 movies, which are the only Terminator movies, as far as I'm concerned. Still feel it would be kind of weird to see an old Terminator though. But let's wait and see how they do it... More

The flesh wouldn't rot, it's not dead flesh, it's living. There may not be an organic life support system underneath keeping it alive but there is obviously an artificial one. As for this news, awesome, I've been making this argument for ages whenever people would say Arnold is too old to play an ageless machine, to me it always made sense that his flesh would age, it's not plastic, it's organic, so why wouldn't it? How would the flesh 'age', exactly? If it's a machine underneath surely all it would do is rot? This looking like a plot hole waiting to happen. More
