Seth Rogen & Joseph Gordon-Levitt Will Celebrate Xmas

The combination of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Seth Rogen and Warm Bodies director Jonathan Levine led to good things with cancer dramedy 50/50. So it’s heartening to hear that the three have decided to work together again on a new, untitled comedy that will focus on the slightly less traumatic subject of Christmas.

Levine has written the script for the new film, which is currently only called Untitled Xmas Comedy (bonus points if they stick to that). The plot will see three childhood friends reuniting in New York for their annual Christmas Eve blowout. Gordon-Levitt and Rogen are once more playing pals and casting is apparently underway for the third member of the group. Nothing more has been revealed about the plot, but we’d expect Santa to figure in there somewhere.

Sony has won the rights to the film, which will be produced by the team at Good Universe. They were formerly known as Mandate Pictures, the name they were working under when they helped get 50/50 made. Cameras should be rolling this summer.

Gordon-Levitt last wrote, directed and starred in Don Jon and will next be seen in Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, and is working away on a Sandman film in whatever spare time he has. Rogen has Bad Neighbors next up for release here on May 9, and is editing his latest directorial effort, The Interview. Levine, meanwhile, is at work on TV pilot Rush, which despite that title has nothing to do with the film, but is instead about a hard-partying, free-wheeling doctor.
