Evangeline Lilly In Talks For Ant-Man
Edgar Wright wants her for his Marvel pic

Evangeline-Lilly-In-Talks-For-Ant-Man

Evangeline Lilly’s efforts kicking Orc ass in Middle-earth clearly impressed Edgar Wright, because the World’s End director is now in early talks with the actress to take a lead role in Ant-Man.

Wright’s picks for the film have been interesting so far, with Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas and Michael Pena all aboard. Lilly would continue that, bringing some much needed extra female energy to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

How exactly she fits into Wright and co-writer Joe Cornish’s script hasn’t been revealed; in true Marvel film tradition, much of the plot remains locked behind a door marked “Seeekrits.”

But according to Variety’s report, speculation is that she might be the daughter of original Ant-Man Hank Pym (Douglas) and a potential sparring/romantic partner for Rudd’s Scott Lang. Though Pym doesn’t have kids in the comic books, it’s certainly not unheard of for the films to make changes where necessary. Alternatively, given that the most famous female character in Ant-Man's life is a certain Janet Van Dyne, AKA Wasp, could we potentially be seeing her set up here?

Of course, we’ll have to wait and see if she signs before anyone can really ponder what role she’ll play. Wright is set to start the cameras cranking in April on the film, which is scheduled to hit cinemas on July 17 next year. Lilly will be back as warrior Elf Tauriel in The Hobbit: There And Back Again, which arrives on December 19.

And there's me thinking that......
....Catherine Zeta Jones was gonna be cast as Pym's wife! If you know the comics, Hank went a bit mad and beat his wife.....Er...scrub that thought....BTW: Lily is a fantastic piece of casting. Marvel have been pretty spot on with the stars they pick, but Warner Bros just can't get it right in my opinion.... More

Wasp Jr?
I like the idea of her being the daughter of Hank Pym and Janet. So back in the 60s her dad was Ant-Man and her mum was Wasp. It'd be cool to see two young actors as Hank & Janet rocking the superhero scene in the 60s, with Douglas and an older actress in the roles nowadays. Then at some point Lilly could borrow her mum's costume/reveal she's inherited her powers, and boom, the new Wasp. More
