Did Magneto Play A Part In The JFK Conspiracy?
New X-Men: Days Of Future Past site makes the case

As we’ve seen from other promos, X-Men: Days Of Future Past focuses on how the mutant population intersects with our history, and how that builds the fear, paranoia and rage that eventually sparks a conflict between homo sapiens and homo superior. Another fragment has come online, which posits that Erik Lehnsherr, AKA Magneto, had a hand in assassinating JFK. Take a look at the video below and check out the full site here

1963, we’re told, was known by mutants as the “Summer of Hate”, in which several of them were assaulted or killed. But did that really lead Lehnsherr to plot against John F. Kennedy? As with almost everything to do with the case, it’s all wrapped in conspiracy theory, but the site is a really intriguing blend of the X-movies’ history and the real-life event. We wondered why it wasn’t launched before the 50th anniversary last Friday, but then there’s a matter of taste when it comes to that tragedy.

X-Men Days Of Future Past finds the mutants of a dark alternate future fighting to stay alive against the onslaught of the dreaded Sentinels. They hatch a desperate plan to send Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) back in time via his own younger body to convince a disillusioned Xavier (James McAvoy) to stop the rise of mutant hate in general and scientist Bolivar Trask in particular, in the hopes that that will change the timeline.

With a sprawling cast that includes Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult Jackman, Ellen Page, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Halle Berry and Anna Paquin, X-Men: Days Of Future Past is out on May 22. For a breakdown of the latest trailer featuring input from director Bryan Singer himself, head here.

RE: It's a good concept but...
Didn't X Files jump on this particular bandwagon years ago? As well as the three characters known as 'The Lone Gunmen', wasn't the Cigarette Smoking Man revealed as either being the actual Lone Gunman who killed Kennedy, or one of a team of shooters? More

L: OPEN YOUR EYES L: tolkienerd I don't consider myself to be a prude, but is it not a bit sick to use someone's assassination/murder as publicity for a movie? I'm not sure I'd want a member of my family's death to be used in such a way. 'd have to agree. agree too. It's understandable and laudable putting comic book characters in general historic settings, as per Magneto surviving the holocaust, but implying a direct cause/effect like the JFK assassination feels che More

RE:
L: Pala36 I remember before days of future past was announced people were talking about the sequel to first class and what it would be about. I'm sure there was a quote from someone involved with the sequel saying that it would include the JFK assassination. I assumed this idea was scrapped when DOFP started hitting the headlines, glad it wasn't ou're right, Matthew Vaughn himself - http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=32406 But I think a lot has changed since Vaughn More

If the infamous 'magic bullet' was being steered by Magneto, that would explain why it could do all that damage and make so many direction changes! More

Terrific viral site
It's great when the PR is done right for a future film and I think they're judging it perfectly for Days of Future Past. I really enjoyed the way First Class tied in its story with historic events and as I suspected, it seems as though this will too. As a student of civil rights and the period, the viral site is entertaining and captures the mood really well. Looking forward to next May! More
