Her pal Naomi Watts is not exactly be bathing in plaudits for her work in Diana, but Nicole Kidman will be hoping for better things from her turn as an iconic royal blonde in Grace Of Monaco. The film has now unveiled a short teaser trailer, and you can watch it below.

The film is set between December 1961 and November 1962, when Grace Kelly (Kidman) maneuvered behind the scenes as Princess of Monaco to save her nation from political turmoil.

Written by Arash Amel, it finds Kelly – already ensconced as the wife of Prince Rainier III (Tim Roth) – called in to help save the nation from an escalating problem about its tax status, as then-president Charles de Gaulle handed her hubby a six-month deadline to reform the place’s financial laws. So not quite a hot button, high-tension thriller, but more a look at how a woman better known for her beauty and film career became an international icon of royalty.

Grace Of Monaco wasn’t ready for Cannes, so Olivier Dahan’s film will now see UK cinemas on November 29.

Mild problem
Never in a million years, under a million different forms of lighting, would Nicole Kidman pass for Grace Kelly. More
