Harrison Ford Set For Expendables 3
But Bruce Willis is out...

Harrison Ford, Crossing Over

As is by now traditional, Sylvester Stallone has gone for the most direct – if not the most  diplomatic – channel to announce a change in casting for the third Expendables film. According to his Twitter feed, Bruce Willis will not be part of the movie – but Harrison Ford, in a surprising coup, is aboard instead.

Yes, he might be 71 years old, but Ford has been willing to revisit his old franchises in the past, so teaming up with Sly and a bunch of other icons for an action knock-about seems feasible.

For those keeping score at home, the new Expendables includes Stallone alongside Mickey Rourke, Wesley Snipes, Milla Jovovich, Kellan Lutz and the still-unconfirmed Jackie Chan and Mel Gibson. That’s on top of likely returning faces Jason Statham, Terry Crews, Dolph Lundgren and Randy Couture. Plus, assuming he has the time to spare from his own nostalgia tour, Arnold Schwarzenegger might show up.

Red Hill director Patrick Hughes will be in charge of handing out the rocket launchers and fish oil tablets, while Stallone is writing the script with Richard Wenk. It’ll kick off shooting shortly and is aiming at an August 2014 release date.

Ford recently told the Telegraph that he thinks Indiana Jones could return, and he will be back on our screens in Ender’s Game, which arrives on October 25. As for Willis, we hope the legendarily grumpy interviewee realises he's set himself up for a thousand questions about the issue by dropping out.

The whole thing raises two questions for us. First, who wants to be the one to tell Stallone about Terry Pratchett's theory on the use of multiple exclamation marks? Secondly, when tackling the tricky job of scheduling all the stars' filming days, do you think that Harrison will shoot first?

beneath him
this is the first time I don't wanna see a Harrison Ford movie. i like Sly and his Rocky stuff but these big action things were terrible. Ford is WAY better than this drivel. He was never an action hero anyhow... hope he's not running around with a machine gun! More

RE: Nicolas Cage?
Not having Nicolas Cage is no big loss. The guy is a joke now anyway. Great to see Ford on board though! With the likes of him and Gibson involved, this has the chance of being the best Expendables yet. Also, since Norris is not in it this time, maybe we can get these guys back fucking swearing like real men! Indy Is Coming To Rambo's Party
Bruce Willis is becoming unemployable at the moment. He seems like a cranky pain-in-the-ass to work with and it looks like he's pissed off Stallone. I think that old Planet Hollywood trio of Sly, Arnie and Bruce is over, Even Sly and Arnie are doing Escape Plan without him. Great news about Harrison Ford but the problem is that The Expendables franchise gets these great names & then doesn't do much with them. They should aim to write either the best action scene ever or some laugh out loud l More

I was already there...
Sounds good to me, love these movies. Yeah, they aren't the most cerebral films but are great to watch. After watching that pile of fucking shit Only God Forgives this week I am still trying to work out the review system...is it fun, mindless action entertainment two stars, meaningless, boring, fucking pointless, badly written shite five stars?...ok, got it! Sly sent another tweet saying something about being greedy and lazy.. sure he's not naming names but judging by his performance in interviews and Die Hard 5 I'd say Bruce is caring less about movies these days. More

All these stars...
It would be great if they took this rare opportunity to make a movie worthy of their calibre, instead of the embarrassing, risible schlock of the previous Expendables movies. I doubt I will ever get over the pain of seeing the sequel. That said, there are some great actors onboard for this, so come on Sly, I dare you to make this the greatest action movie of all time, with a really good story (I know you can do it), that fully utilises the talents of yourself and the great cast you have.
