It may not have become quite the powerhouse that Harry Potter was – even with Christopher Columbus kicking things off back in 2010 with The Lightning Thief – but Fox is committed to keeping on with Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson fantasy adventure novels, and here comes the latest trailer for the second adaptation, Sea Of Monsters.

This time out Percy (Logan Lerman), Annabeth (Alexandra Daddario) and Grover (Brandon T. Jackson), aided by a variety of other demi-gods and mythological types, must journey to find the Golden Fleece, the only mystical object that can save their threatened home.

The trip will take them to the Sea Of Monsters, better known to us mortals as the Bermuda Triangle. Along the way they’ll face dangers, foes (including old enemy Luke, played by Jake Abel) and get assistance from Hermes (Nathan Fillion, having a right old time).

Despite a few cast changes (Anthony Stewart Head is Chiron instead of Pierce Brosnan) and a new director in Thor Freudenthal, this looks to be more of the same Jackson material: lots of CG beasties and plenty of interplay between the charismatic central trio.

Percy Jackson And The Sea Of Monsters will land in our cinemas on August 7.

Harry Potter: Sea Of Imitators
The first one wasn't bad (if a bit derivative) but it's quite obvious from the trailer for this one that it's a Harry Potter rip-off; the triumvirate of teen friends (two guys and a girl), the monsters, the magic, the special place they train, etc. Pierce Brosnan has buggered off from the franchise for some reason (his accent in the first one was odd; it went from Scottish to English to Irish and back again.) I'll probably check it out but it looks a bit lacklustre, especially Stanley Tucci who More
