Anton Corbijn Gets Life
The director's planning a James Dean film

James Dean

No stranger to dealing with films based on real people after kicking off his directing career with Control, Anton Corbijn has set his sights on an iconic cinema legend for a future project. He’s attached to make Life, which will chronicle the working relationship and deep friendship between photographer Dennis Stock and actor James Dean.

Luke Davies wrote the script, which tracks the pair’s interaction in 1955, before Dean became an international icon. Stock met Dean at a party and quickly realised he could be something special. Initially defensive and feeling guilty that he spent so much time away from his son, Stock emerged from his shell as he hung out with Dean in Los Angeles, New York and Indiana, chronicling his world for Life Magazine.

The resulting pictures captured a rising star, and helped Stock go on to become a renowned artist.

There’s no word yet on casting for the central pair, and for now Corbijn is busy finishing his latest movie, John Le Carre adaptation A Most Wanted Man with Rachel McAdams and Philip Seymour Hoffman. The espionage drama is set for release here on November 22.

RE: Kicking off with casting
He's already played him, in a TV movie, in 2001 see IMDb link below. A second go might make for interesting (ish) comparison purposes I suppose. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0240628/ More
