Latest Lone Ranger Trailer Online
'We ride for justice!'

18 April 2013  |  Written by James White

Disney was the first studio to present its upcoming slate at CinemaCon on Wednesday, spotlighting the likes of the imminent Iron Man 3, Monsters University, Saving Mr Banks, a certain space opera series and all the future releases from Marvel, Pixar, and Disney’s own animation and live action departments. The big star of the show was The Lone Ranger, with producer Jerry Bruckheimer, director Gore Verbinski, plus stars Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp on hand to introduce a couple of clips plus the new trailer. Check out the promo below.

The extended clips for the film were also impressive, featuring – you guessed it – trains, but also giving us a proper glimpse of the film when it’s not at its frenzied full-on action tilt. We saw quieter moments between Hammer’s John Reid and Ruth Wilson as his sister-in-law Rebecca and also some good-natured sibling banter between John and older Ranger brother Dan (James Badge Dale). There was also a chance to watch John and Depp’s Tonto meeting for the first time and their interaction after the big tragedy that sets the plot into action and spurs John to become the Lone Ranger. Plus the most dangerous rabbits this side of Monty Python And The Holy Grail

While we won’t say too much about what we saw, we will say that we came away feeling like this could well be the next big Disney franchise (no shocker coming from the Pirates team), with plenty of humour leavening the action and a few moments that let Depp do what he does best.

The Lone Ranger, which also features Helena Bonham Carter, Tom Wilkinson, Barry Pepper, William Fichtner, W. Earl Brown and James Frain, rides into our cinemas on August 9.

Not like black face at all...
It's not so much like casting someone in black face to play an African- it's more like casting a chicken as a dodo in so far as its not really possible to cast the original as they've been wiped out by European immigrants... ;) More

RE: Finally a good trailer!
I am beyond not interested in this film. One of the main reasons being the fact that they couldn't bother casting a Native American in the role of Tonto. I equate it to casting somebody in blackface instead of somebody who is actually African for the role of an African character. Same thing. Just because you can claim that a past ancestor was Native American doesn't make you are any more Native American than the average American. *end of rant* More

Finally a good trailer!
The previous trailers weren't amazing but this one's promising. What an awesome cinematography! I'm expecting a lot from Gore Verbinski, who was the guy who dared to complicate and personalize the Pirates franchise. More

With every new trailer I become less and less interested in this. If those were the best bits of the movie I smell a stinker. I fear that this is yet another childhood memory and franchise that will be ruined by directors and producers chasing the teen audience cash. Green Hornet anyone? More
